Coronavirus (Covid-19) update

Please find below the thirtieth edition of our coronavirus (Covid-19) update.

There’s an update on two enhancements being introduced to the Game Management System for the 2020/21 season and news that a webinar is scheduled for Thursday 9 July to provide more clarity on these developments.

RFU headlines

GMS update – developments for 2020/21 season and GMS offline Monday 13 & Tuesday 14 July

Based on feedback from the game last season and a desire to streamline processes and time spent by clubs and players/parents, we are making two key developments to GMS for the 2020/21 season:

• Personal Profile changes to improve the user experience for all GMS users.
• Age-grade registration changes to benefit club administrators / registrars.

In addition, we will also be introducing a support portal to house GMS help materials.

We are planning to go live next week to give a familiarisation period and to help club membership processes to get underway. A short period of down time for GMS is currently scheduled for Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 July.

We believe that these improvements will support clubs to capture online club membership payments at a time when revenues are a priority, as well as reducing the administration burden. It is important to note that clubs that have either set-up their 2020/21 memberships or are in the process of creating them in GMS will not be required to do anything different.

GMS personal profile & age grade registration enhancements webinar – Thursday 9 July – 7pm

We will be hosting a live Club Webinar session to introduce the updates to GMS for the 2020/21 season. For those who cannot attend the live webinar on the 9th, a video of this session will be available to watch on demand on englandrugby.com from Monday 13 July.

Mentoring others through testing times webinar with Sarah Hunter – Thursday 9 July – 11am

Join Red Roses Captain, Sarah Hunter as she discusses life in lockdown, what leadership means to her and how young players can prepare for a return to competitive sport on Irwin Mitchell’s Thursday Thoughts webinar. Sarah will also talk about why she’s joining forces with Irwin Mitchell to mentor young players as part of the Mentoring Club programme.

Club leadership teams - virtual workshop – Thursday 15 July - 6:30pm-8:30pm

Do you have the right committee structure? This virtual workshop explores how your club can be structured to not only effectively run the club, but also plan for the future. The virtual workshop also looks at how you make sure the right people are in the right roles to take the club forward.

RFU community club insurance cover

We provide a number of insurance policies to protect clubs, club officers, coaches, referees and volunteers. This webinar delivered by our insurance broker Howden will provide guidance on the RFU insurance cover provided to protect clubs. The webinar will also include the insurance cover provided in the event of a coronavirus compensation claim. Register to watch on demand below.

Return to rugby - getting coach / referee / volunteer training started again

We’ve produced a 15-minute on demand webinar to explain how we plan to restart the training course programme for coaches, referees and volunteers. This includes information on updates to the course training offer, changes to course formats and a plan for the roll out of the priority England Rugby player welfare and safety training.
