On a sunny day in perfect conditions, except for a north easterly breeze, Hampshire U18s beat Middlesex 46 - 27 in a match watched by England selectors and in front of an encouraging crowd.

Hampshire started hesitantly but after a stunning first try they gathered momentum and scored a further two tries, one pushing the ball over the line and another being a break through run.

Middlesex fought back just before half time and came back strongly on the return to play, scoring within two minutes. Hampshire suffered from some unforced errors and lack of discipline and Middlesex scored again but Hampshire came back strongly in reply.

Both sides benefitted from the bench and Hampshire again showed the strength of the whole squad in achieving an outstanding win.

Lots to work on however before we play Hertfordshire and Surrey whom we watched playing when we arrived at Farnham.
