1.       Update from the Education Department regarding National Girls Competitions:

In response to the changes to Age Grade Rugby and aligned to the principles of a ‘player-centred, development-driven and competition supported’ approach we would like to clarify our position in terms of the Girls Competitions for Schools.

Our National Schools Competitions are currently being reviewed for both males and females to ensure we have the right format to meet the requirements and expectations of Age Grade Rugby.

Under 13 Girls (Year 7 & 8):  England Rugby Local Delivery Teams (RDOs and CRCs) will organise local festivals (at a county or sub-county level).  The rules and regulations may be altered to suit local development needs; ie. Play 7 or 10-a-side if more suitable to the level of teams taking part.  There will be no progression to an Area Festival or National Festival.

Under 15 Girls (Year 9 & 10):  England Rugby Local Delivery Teams (RDOs and CRCs) will organise local festivals (at a County or sub-county level). The rules and regulations may be altered to suit local development needs; ie. Play 10-a-side if more suitable to the level of teams taking part.  There will be progression to an Area Festival for the top two teams.  There will be no progression to a National Festival.

Under 18 Girls (Year 11, 12 & 13):  England Rugby Local Delivery Teams (RDOs and CRCs) will invite/nominate U18s teams to take part in the Area Festival (15-a-side if suitable, most likely 7-a-sideand/or Touch).

There will be no progression to a National Festival.
