Year 8 Boys Hampshire Schools 2015-16  Competition

 

The Year 8 Boys Schools tournament that will be held

 

on Tuesday 3rd November at Southampton RFC Test Park, Redbridge Lane, Southampton.  SO16 9BP commencing at 1030.

Rules for the games are as follows:

 

Note:  Unfortunately we were unable to book a venue that would allow us to play on 90x60 and accommodate so may schools so we have had to modify the rules as follows:

 

YEAR 8  Boys

- Max squad of 15 -

- 11-a-side  

- Rolling substitutions

- 6 Player Scrums – CONTESTED formed by players that are confident (If this is not the case we go to uncontested scrums)

- Pitch – 60 x 43 metres

- Hand-offs

- No limit on numbers contesting for the ball including in the maul

and ruck

-  Free pass 5m in from the touchline if a player runs into touch

- All restarts will commence with scrum

- No limit on number of players who can join a ruck or maul situation

- Unfortunately due to size of pitches no  kicking the ball out of hand or fly hack

 

 

Format for the Day:

 

  • Arrival and Registration: 9.30am – 9.45am, please register with the member of England Rugby Community staff in the car park who will give you further information.
  • Teacher’s Brief:

  • Latest finish time: 

Weather:  Please check the forecast ahead of the event and ensure that your children bring appropriate clothing. (The weather was very kind for us at the Yr7 tournament but please do not get caught out – the fields at Southampton are quite exposed)

 

Refreshments:  Tea/coffee and sandwiches will be provided for teachers

 

Make sure your pupils bring their own lunches.

 

Please be reminded that the focus for all our festivals is on the children participating having fun, learning and developing their understanding of rugby and we would like them to leave feeling positive about the game.
