Friday  Night Under Lights  Comes to the Island for a 2nd Year – Friday 29th November – Isle of Wight RFC

I am delighted to inform everyone that our successful Friday Nights Under Lights Series will come across  to the Island for the second year . It is time once again for you to get your boots out of the cupboard and join us at Isle of Wight RFC on Friday 28th  November. Post Code PO33 4NQ

Golden Rule: Please remember the golden rule of the evening is to have fun and the games are about engaging players of all abilities

The aim of the evening:

·       To help clubs retain, recruit and engage players and provide social rugby:

·       Provide an opportunity for parents that watch their children at Vectis that have little or no playing experience who would like to have a go

·       Re engage those players that are not able to  commit  to regular training and Saturday Rugby

·       Provide more game time for the developing players

·       Help players transitioning from touch rugby to contact rugby in a safe and controlled environment

·       Provide opportunity for Parents to play with sons & daughters & friends

Running of the event / Referees  The evening will be run by the England Rugby Development team and refereed by one of our  qualified Intern Students from Solent University.  A qualified first aider / physio will also be in attendance

Team Numbers:  Number in teams will be dependent on number of players that turn up.  Previously we have played between 8-11 players on half pitch.  In our last event held at Eastleigh we played 14 a side (x2 periods of 20min and a sudden death next score were the winners.

Format of the Evening:  It is a relaxed format that allows for the rules to be adapted to the ability and fitness of the players.  E.g. Half pitch or Full pitch formats, contested or Uncontested scrums, Contested or Uncontested lineouts; etc. these rules are decided between both teams before the start of each game.  This ensures competition which caters for all ages and abilities
